Private lessons are 30 minutes. During lessons, we review material, develop a repertoire list, learn and practice warm-up activities, and learn new concepts and techniques. Each lesson is broken up into "mini lessons" which keeps young students engaged and focused.

I use a fun approach during lessons. I want students to enjoy their time with me and be excited about coming to lessons. Sometimes we are serious, and sometimes we act silly and laugh a lot!

My curriculum includes learning about composers from all time periods who have greatly influences music. We study Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, Harry Connick Jr., Fats Waller, Liberace, Thelonious Monk, Alecia Keys, Elton John and more!

During the first piano lesson with a new student, I do an assessment to determine which level is best for them. This depends on age, ability, interest and maturity.

Students who transfer to me from another teacher will need a brief assessment so that I can begin instruction on the appropriate level. Transfer students should bring all books and notes to the first lesson.

Students are required to have the following for lessons:

--A piano at home;

--Lesson, theory, and notespeller books, and a 3-ring binder.

Lessons are paid for via cash or check and are paid monthly or by the semester.
