MTNA music festivals and theory tests help students set and meet goals, build confidence in their ability, and provide a non-competitive way to get recognized for hard work and achievements, and best all -- provides a great source of motivation!
NEXT STEPS:
1. Register students who are interested in participating. This does not mean students MUST participate, but this makes them eligible to participate if they choose to. It is $8.00 to register your child as a student affiliate. I have the form and all I have to do is add their name to it and send it in with your payment. It's very easy! I strongly recommend that you register your child even if they are not sure if they want to do this. If they don't register soon, they will not be eligible later.
2. Obtain JUST THE FACTS and THEORY TIME books either Strait Music. Call Ravis at 918-3743 and tell him the grade level you need. First graders need Grade One, second graders need Grade Two, etc. These books are very cheap - around $4.95.
3. Request a practice test from me for your child's grade. Consider planning extra lessons for focusing exclusively on theory or performance pieces.
4. Mark these dates on the calendar and make the commitment to participate. This is a wonderful goal!
5. Email me or call me with any questions. You may also visit the web site for more information: http://bluebonnetmta.org/
Please note that it is $15.00 for a student to participate in a festival or test. Students receive a rating sheet from the judge with remarks and a score.
